What is Advent wreath?
Advent wreath is a typical symbol of Advent. The color of Advent is purple. It has usually 4 candles and every Advent Sunday people light one of them. But you can also find wreath with 5 candles. Three candles should be blue or purple, one pink and one white.
What is the meaning of candles at wreath?
Each candle has its own meaning.
The first candle: is light up at first Sunday that is called ,,Iron" Sunday. The candle is purple and symbolizes hope. It is sometimes called the "Prophecy Candle".
The second candle: is light up at second Sunday that is called "Bronze". Sunday. Candle is also purple and represents faith. It is called the "Bethlehem Candle" as a reminder of Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem.
The third candle: is light up at third Sunday that is called "Silver" Sunday. Candle is pink and that colour symbolizes friendship, so this candle symbolizes that. It is called the "Shepard's Candle," because it expresses the joy that fasting is already over.
The fourth candle: is light up at fourth Sunday that is called "Gold" Sunday. The last candle is purple. This final candle, the "Angel's Candle," symbolizes peace and love.
The fifth candle: is light up at Christmas day after sunset. It is white and dedicated to Christ. White colour symbolizes that he is "Light" at our life.
